Who am I

Hi there—my name is Fabrice Deprez, I’m a freelance journalist covering the war in Ukraine for several French-language and English-language outlets. I had been a correspondent in Kyiv for more than three years before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.

What you’ll get

“The Long War” looks to provide my impressions on the war and the way it is changing Ukraine. In line with this newsletter’s original premise, it will also include links to stories about the war you probably haven’t seen yet. I do my best to keep it weekly, though this does vary.

“Ukrainian Pulse” focuses on the people and topics driving the conversation in Ukraine, with the goal of giving you an accurate sense of what experts, pundits and activists in Ukraine are talking about.

“Analysis & Academic” is an irregular curation of recently-published op-eds, analysises and academic articles about the war in Ukraine.

For how much

The newsletter is free—but it is work that takes time and effort, and paid subscriptions are important to help me continue to do it. If you can afford it, if the newsletter has been valuable to you in some way or simply if you want to support reporting from Ukraine, buying a paid subscription is a huge help. And if you’d rather support me without the committment of a subscription, you can also make a donation or simply share the newsletter. Thank you!

And if you have any ideas, questions, comments or stuff you really need to tell me about, feel free to reach out here, on Twitter (my DMs are open) or by email.
